Buergeria japonica
南西諸島のカエルでは最普通種です。体色の個体差が大きく、茶色やクリーム色などもいるのですが、写真のような真っ黄色の個体もいます。なんだかんだいって真っ黄色の小型カエルって日本だと本種くらいなんですよね。黄色いカエル好みなんで、リュウキュウカジカはかなり好きなカエルです。鳴き声も綺麗ですし。そして本種は特殊な生態を持っております。それはオタマジャクシが高水温で生残できるというものです。高温耐性が異常に高く、40℃程度の水温でも生残が可能です(46℃あたりが限界)。温泉地帯ですら殖えることができるというのは、火山島に生息するにおいてかなり優れた能力になります。
Buergeria japonica is the most common frog species in Nansei Islands Japan. Individual differences in body color are large, brown, cream and yellow. I like yellow color frogs, so this species is my favorite. Ribbit is also beautiful. This species has a special ecology that the larvae's high water temperature tolerance is abnormally high. They can survive at a water temperature of around 40℃ (the limit is 46℃).
