オオトゲオカヤドカリ
Coenobita spinosus
西太平洋に分布するオカヤドカリ種で、日本においては小笠原諸島でのみ極少数確認されています。体色は焦茶色で毛深く、とても力強いです。情報や写真が少ない種で、明らかになっていないことが多い興味深い種です。
This land hermit crab distributed in the western Pacific. Body color is dark brown and hairy. This species have less information and pictures.
この種を見つけた時は舞い上がりました。私が訪れたグアムでは個体数は少なくないようで、何個体も見つけることができました。しかし、なぜか全て大型個体であったため、次の機会では小型個体も探りあてたいところです。身体に対して小さめの宿を好み、貝殻じゃないものを背負っている個体も多く見られました。
When I found this species, I was too happy and crazy. However, the population seemed not to be small, so I could find many individuals. This species prefers a small shell to the body, and individuals who carry things not a shell are also commonly seen.
